The Word…PURPOSE

January 26, 2019 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

I usually start thinking about my word selection for the next year around November. Some years it comes to me easily. Other years it is more challenging.

This year is one of the more challenging ones. And until the other day, I didn’t have a clue what that word would be for 2019. Then the word purpose came to me.

I realized that I needed to realign myself so I can see the forest. I have been moving from task to task, deadline to deadline and tree to tree. And I was tired and overwhelmed.

Using the word purpose to focus me for 2019 excites me and energizes me. I am looking forward to spending time on this year’s journey. So, I started with looking up the word’s definition.

The definition of purpose according to thefreedictionary.com

purpose
n
1. the reason for which anything is done, created, or exists
2. a fixed design, outcome, or idea that is the object of an action or other effort
3. fixed intention in doing something; determination: a man of purpose.
4. practical advantage or use: to work to good purpose.
5. that which is relevant or under consideration (esp in the phrase to or from the purpose)
6. archaic purport
7. on purpose intentionally
vb (tr)
to intend or determine to do (something)

My intent for 2019…to live my life on purpose. I can’t wait to see what that word brings this year.

What’s your word?
