The Word…PURPOSE

January 26, 2019 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

I usually start thinking about my word selection for the next year around November. Some years it comes to me easily. Other years it is more challenging.

This year is one of the more challenging ones. And until the other day, I didn’t have a clue what that word would be for 2019. Then the word purpose came to me.

I realized that I needed to realign myself so I can see the forest. I have been moving from task to task, deadline to deadline and tree to tree. And I was tired and overwhelmed.

Using the word purpose to focus me for 2019 excites me and energizes me. I am looking forward to spending time on this year’s journey. So, I started with looking up the word’s definition.

The Journey Into Clutter Busting: December Basement Update

December 17, 2011 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

I mentioned in my post last month that the basement really is a journey. It is also a resolution. I am resolving to keep an organized and useful basement. And that continues as I move through the 9th month of this project.

I have been able to deal with incompletes in my life as I have gone through this basement clearing process. Estate records and school papers being held onto longer than necessary, reference files that no longer serve a purpose, family “treasures” not dealt with and extra household items no longer used.

I learned again that in order to move forward you have to clear away some of the past.

Is the basement done? Almost. The goal is by the end of the month I will have it all sorted and those items that are no longer needed will be out of the house. In January I will map out permanent storage spots and storage items such as shelving will be purchased. In February all will be in its place. This will put me in a great spot for moving forward with plans to finish the basement.

What a great journey.
