Visualization creates a mental image or an intention of what you want to happen or feel. It is a powerful tool in goal achievement. The reason visual imagery works lies in the fact that when you imagine yourself performing to perfection and doing exactly what you want, you are in turn physiologically forming neural patterns in your brain, just as if you had physically performed the action. Mental imagery is intended to train our minds and build neural patterns in our brain to teach our “muscles” (mental and physical) to do exactly what we want them to do. In fact, there are several articles written about visualization in sports achievement.
On a personal note, I recently used visualization in a goal achievement. I set a goal to wear a particular dress to a wedding. When I originally tried the dress on it was snug and unable to zip all the way up. I engaged in creating a mental image of myself wearing the dress including shoes, purse, hair style and jewelry. I also pictured myself at a wedding-like event in the dress. And success! I just wore the dress comfortably at the wedding. I am a big believer in visualization (and/or using dream boards) as a tool in achieving goals.
So give yourself a mental edge for goal achievement…visualize yourself with your goal completed. You will be amazed at what will follow.
Michaeline,
You mentioned at the Farmington Hills library that you had a list of phone numbers that we could call and stop junk mail and calls. I would appreciate if you could send it to me.
Thanks
Joel
I will email you the list this next week to the address on this post. Thanks for inquiring. Hope you enjoyed the presentation and completed your WOW.
