Clearing Clutter – Body Weight

Is body clutter weighing you down? It had been weighing me down for many years. I tired and tried again and again to lose weight. Some of these attempts to a healthy weight had been successful, but only in the short-term.

Over the last 14 months, I have been more successful at achieving a healthy body weight by shifting my thoughts about weight and the work that needs to go into maintaining a healthy weight.

Even as a registered dietitian, I have made bad food choices, ate large portions, stress ate and not exercised.

In January 2022, I changed the way I looked at weight loss and flipped it to weight management. I also committed to a healthy weight by committing every day to food and exercise choices that support a healthy weight. I committed to weight management as a journey that I was going to be on for the rest of my life and not just a destination.

How many times have you lost weight and then regained it and maybe more?

It is not always easy

Some of our goals and dreams are realized so easily that it is as if an unseen hand has done much of the work for us. When this happens, we say it must have been meant to be. On the other hand, when dreams and goals require a tremendous amount of effort, we may view this to mean that our dream is not meant to be. However, difficulty is not necessarily a sign that our hopes and plans are doomed. On the contrary, difficulties and challenges along the journey can be important parts of the overall result or meaning.

When things go smoothly, we feel blessed. When things are tough, we may feel discouraged and that we are doomed or accursed. We need to know that we are blessed in either circumstance. When things are difficult, we can learn lessons. Think of the satisfaction that comes with knowing you achieved something that was challenging. Self-reliance expands and our ability to endure and that our faith is stronger for it being tested. Overcoming obstacles empowers us to dream even bigger.

I encourage you to embrace all goals whether easy or difficult and learn throughout this journey.

Clutter Busting: Are Your Emotions being hijacked?

Are you letting others hijack your happiness? Do you have that one person who seems to be on a mission to make you miserable? The one person who thrives on drama?

It’s not your job to fix that person. Realize that you can’t fix someone else you can only fix yourself.

So stop being the victim of other’s emotions. Stop changing everyone else because you can only change yourself.

If we want to change a relationship we have to change ourselves. We have to stop allowing others to have the keys to our happiness. Start taking control by asking yourself:

  • Can I change the situation?
  • Can I can my attitude?
  • Can I change the environment?

You may not be able to free yourself totally from drama, especially with the upcoming holidays, but you can control the effects. And you can choose how to react to others. When we become different other people treat us differently.

So choose to take control and how you react.

Clutter Busting: It’s Your Choice

  3. The person or thing chosen or eligible to be chosen:
  4. An alternative
  5. An abundance or variety from which to choose:
  6. Something that is preferred or preferable to others; the best part of something:
  7. A carefully selected supply

 

Whether you are clearing clutter from your mind, body or space it’s about the choices you make on daily basis. You may think that there are outside forces that prevent you from being positive, achieving a healthy weight or decluttering your stuff. But clutter busting is mostly an inside job.

I personally have been on a journey of fitness over that last several months. And someone just asked me how I was able to achieve some significant changes in my body shape. After thinking about it the answer is simple…choice.

Choice is about understanding that you have an option or alternative and it’s about your priorities.

So whether it’s making changes in body, mind or spirit you can conquer chaos and create harmony…just make the choice.
