I Live Harmoniously

September 11, 2021 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

I live harmoniously is one of my mission statements. What I have defined that to be for me is that:

  • Our home is clutter free and out items are organized.
  • We regularly purge excess and have a plan to maintain our home.
  • My current possessions are curated to support my vision.

As I looked at my routines recently, I made sure to calendarize those tasks during September in ensure planned time to purge excess as well as time for some maintenance tasks.

So, this weekend we are spending time going through hazardous chemicals and other items that can be taken to an upcoming hazardous waste day.

Adding one or two maintenance tasks each month can help reduce the overwhelmed feeling and make the tasks doable. What decluttering project is on your list so you can conquer chaos and create harmony?

Routine Reboot

September 4, 2021 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

For me, September is always a month of year that I consider as a time to reboot or reevaluate my life and activities. For me, it is a time that I can open myself up to change just as the season does.

As I was thinking about the fall, I thought about routines. We shift into different patterns usually with the start of school or end of vacation times or change in weather.

Routines have always been a way for me to ensure that I am meeting my commitments and goals…doing what I say I will do. And, for me, with the busyness of life, it keeps the important at the forefront since I can get overtaken by the urgent. Give me a routine any day.

So, I have dusted off my routine calendar and updated it.

Are you ready to create a routine that will get you unstuck? Are you ready to achieve your goals? Are you ready to keep commitments to yourself? Life coaching can help. Contact me to find out how.

Living with Routine

September 7, 2019 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

R is for routine or daily practices.

Daily practices are tasks that are non-negotiable and that will set you up for success and help you move forward to take back your life. And routines are things you set up in order to keep you on track or to avoid becoming overwhelmed.

You may have heard the nursery rhyme “this is the way we wash our clothes…”
Creating daily practices helps to ensure tasks happen on a regular basis and that attention is given to the important as well as the urgent. A routine can include tasks relating to your health, to organization or home chores or work responsibilities.

A routine can also keep things on track when life happens, and you must go to plan B. Routines can help you refocus and make decisions about priorities or even help you manage time and self-care when stuff happens in your life.

For me having a routine keeps the important a priority for me and allows me to not get stuck or take steps backwards. Because it contains items, I need to do to support myself such as meditation or things I will lose sight of in the busyness of the day like clean my purse and water my plants. These are things that keep me organized and resilient even when work or other items cause me to redirect.

Here is an example from my routine: [Read more…] about Living with Routine

Free Yourself from Clutter

July 7, 2009 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Clutter weighs you down, distracts you and causes chaos. Free yourself from clutter with some of these techniques:

  • Stop paper from coming into your home. To learn how read my earlier post: http://clutterbustingcoach.com/2009/03/28/clutter-control-conquering-the-paper-pile-up/.
  • Use a landing and launching pad for things that enter and leave the house. A book case, shelf or basket set in the entryway can be used as a drop spot for everyday items plus anything else you need to take when you leave the house.
  •  Use a laundry routine to prevent a pileup. Set a schedule and stick to it and enlist your family’s help.
  • Create a lost and found drawer, bin or basket. This is where you put things other family member lose or leave out. They will have a place to look when they ask for an item and you don’t have to nag everyone to put their stuff away.

Creating these types of habits or routines will help you become clutter-free. Which one are you starting with today?
