Stress Less This Holiday: Gift-giving Part 1

November 21, 2009 by clutterbusting 1 Comment

“Gift giving is the inside-out feeling wrapped in a box.” ~Marcia Ramsland

Many times as we approach the holiday gift-giving becomes more of a chore than a pleasure. Gif-giving is often identified by many as one of the biggest stresses in preparing for the holiday season.

Just think about it…. you have to decide what to buy, where to buy it, wrap it and deliver it. Then there is potentially mailing gifts.

Once you get your gift buying organized by having a full of gift ideas, past gift lists for reference and supplies on hand for convenient gift wrapping holiday shopping can be an enjoyable process. [Read more…] about Stress Less This Holiday: Gift-giving Part 1

Giving IS Better than Receiving

November 7, 2009 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

I had the pleasure of attending a local fundraising event last night put on by an amazing woman who personifies the adage “it is better to give than receive”. Several years ago she asked herself what could she do for people close to her who were touched by the cancer experience and she started this fundraising event and it led to the development of a non-profit organization.

Besides attending the event, Clutter Busting Coach, LLC had the honor of being one of several sponsors for the evening. I decided to get involved because I was inspired to add to this great event. Attending the program for several years always left me feeling good that I contributed and hopeful for the future. Not only does the event raise money for cancer but it is a gathering place for people to share their “abundance”. [Read more…] about Giving IS Better than Receiving

Clutter Busting: For the Holidays

October 31, 2009 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

With the holidays fast approaching are you looking forward to them in anticipation or dread? Do you look around the house and wonder how you are ever going to do all the stuff you need to do for your family to have a great holiday season and for you not to be stressed out?

It comes down to attitude and action. Over the next few weeks I will address a variety of topics designed for clutter busting for the holidays.

Are you a pack rat? Do you procrastinate? Are you sentimental about your stuff? Do you not have time?

Clutter busting for the holidays really starts with your mental clutter.

As a first step to clutter busting for the holidays visualize the holiday you want this year. Do you want a large family party or a quiet time at home? Do you want to deck the halls, the stairs, every room and the exterior of the house or is a tree enough?

Once you understand what you want, you can start to look at your beliefs about the holidays and determine which ones still serve you and which you need to discard… or which are mental clutter.

Once you have a clear picture of the holiday you desire, you can then move toward the holidays with anticipation and not fear. This will also set the foundation for the plans and actions that will move you toward a stress free holiday.
