Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing. ~ Denis Waitley
Life equals risk. We spend so much time in the past or the future that we truly never experience the present.
Dealing with our clutter is risky business. Many times it keeps us in our past and prevents our forward movement. Is this the role that your clutter is playing in your life?
What memories will going through your stuff bring up? What issues will surface?
Decluttering can feel very risky. Here are some risk-taking tips:
- Just believe you can start.
- You don’t have to see the finish line but believe it is there.
- Publicly announce you goal to make yourself accountable.
- Ask for help when needed.
- Just do it!
When I was cleaning out a relative’s home after their passing, I was faced with an overwhelming task…clearing out 35 years of stuff. It was enough to bring me to tears and create a knot in my stomach. Yet, knowing I had help and just starting in with the first box, created the momentum I needed. It took a while but each room completed was an amazing accomplishment.
SO just take the risk…take the first step in clearing your clutter. And be amazed.
