Clutter Busting: Holiday Countdown

December 6, 2014 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Where are you with your holiday planning? If you started around November 1 you should be making some great progress on your task list and hopefully you are feeling less stressed. The whole idea of a holiday countdown is to tackle a few tasks each week so you avoid being overwhelmed and so you can hopefully enjoy the season a little more.

Even if you are just getting started today, here are some ideas to divide and conquer your holiday task list in three weeks:

  • Schedule your tasks in your calendar. Select three days each week to work on your holiday to-do list.
  • Group errands together. Buy all the children’s gifts at the same time. Buy staples and stocking stuffers from the same store.
  • Delegate. Get your family members (based on age and skill level) to help with items still left on the “to do” list such as decorating, baking, wrapping, shopping or decorating.

Make your plan and work your plan and your holiday countdown will be joyful instead of stressful.

If you are feeling overwhelmed you may even be feeling physical and emotional symptoms such as knots in your stomach, a pounding headache, an accelerated heart rate or feelings of being swamped, or a sense of panic or helpless.

Clutter Busting: Letting Go

November 8, 2014 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

 To Let Go

by Stephen (2008)

To let go does not mean to stop caring, it means I can’t do it for someone else.

To let go is not to cut myself off, it’s the realization that I can’t control another.

To let go is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences.

To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands.

To let go is not to try to change or blame another, it’s to make the most of myself.

To let go is not to care for, but to care about.

To let go is not to fix, but to be supportive.

To let go is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.

To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow other to affect their own destinies.

To let go is not to be protective, it’s to permit another to face reality.

To let go is not to criticize, or regulate anyone, but to try to become what I dream I can do.

To let go is to fear less, and to love more.
