Journaling

October 22, 2022 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

In a previous post, I mentioned that I journal most mornings.

Journaling for me allows me to identify my feelings, help me to let go of unrealistic expectations, see my successes, as well as improve gratitude and awareness.

Journaling can be one of the ways to deal with any overwhelming emotion and is a healthy way to express yourself. Journaling can be a helpful tool in managing your mental health by managing your anxiety, reducing stress or helping you cope with depression.

Journaling can assist with managing these symptoms and improve your mood by:

  • Helping you prioritize problems, fears, and concerns
  • Recognizing triggers and identifying ways to manage them.
  • Providing an opportunity for positive self-talk and identifying negative thoughts and behaviors.

When you have a problem and you’re stressed, keeping a journal can help you identify what’s causing that stress or anxiety. Once you’ve identified your stressors, you can work on a plan to address the issues and reduce your stress.

Note that journaling is just one aspect of a healthy lifestyle and that you may benefit from seeking and/or need professional help.

Transform Your Dreams into Your Destiny

January 21, 2017 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Journaling about your future can help you manifest your destiny.

In a previous post I spoke about creating a dream board as a tool to help you achieve your dream. But are you struggling to even envision what your future could be?

Journaling can help. It can help make what seems impossible probable.

I have personally journaled daily (mostly) for years. Last year I added a separate gratitude journal that I use randomly and when I do gratitude focus challenges. And while my regular journaling is about random thoughts, my intention this year is to add specific journaling related to my future vision (dream board). So as I start my transformative journaling, here are some tips to make your journaling (and mine) intentional and transformative:

  • Pick a consistent time to journal.
  • Set aside at least 10 minutes.
  • Take a minute to just breathe and clear your mind.
  • Ask for clarity and vision.
  • Begin writing.
  • Be very detailed and specific.
  • Write in the present tense as if your vision already exists.
  • Be patient and continue to write your story day after day or week after week.
  • Be aware of small, positive movements toward your vision.
  • Be grateful for where you are and also thankful for living your vision.

So join me. Write your way to transforming your life and manifesting your destiny.

Do You Know Yourself?

October 1, 2016 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

26-questions-to-help-you-know-yourself-betterDo you know who you are? We all play many roles in our lives: mom or dad, colleague, wife or husband, aunt or uncle, manager, daughter or son, or volunteer. The list can go on. But do you really have a sense of who you are? Are you lost in all your roles?

You could hope that you asked and answered the question in your teens or in your 20s about whom you are and who you want to be. But it is a normal part of life to re-ask those questions when we hit middle age in order to regain our sense of purpose and self-understanding.

Sharon Martin, LCSW, created some questions and journaling prompts that will help you gain understand of who you really are. Consider journaling on a question or two daily to help you work through this process of rediscovery.

I am so glad I came across this resource. Next…my journaling for today.

Change Your Agreements…Change Your Happiness

September 20, 2008 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

We all talk about transforming our lives…changing things…living our dreams. So how come you still are unhappy or feel stuck? Are you really free to do what you desire? Are others stopping you or are you stopping yourself? Here’s where I swallow hard, take a deep breath and say you (we) have the choice of not continuing to play the role of victim.
