Mission Focus- Gratitude

August 7, 2021 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Besides my focus Word of integrity for 2021, I decided this year to take each month and focus on one of my mission statements.

The focus for August is I engage in self-care daily including meditation, prayer, self-improvement reading and keeping commitments to myself. I regularly craft or do projects for enjoyment.

With that in mind, I have decided to do a 21-day gratitude challenge this month. Will you join me?

Starting today through August 28, I plan to write down three things I am grateful for at the end of each day. I have my gratitude journal at the ready and an alert set on my phone to help me keep my commitment.

I am looking forward to how my life will be enriched by this practice. Join me?

If you need some inspiration for this challenge, try some of the online challenge calendars or prompts such as this one: http://gratitudechallenge.com/downloads/gratitude-calendar.pdf

Mission Driven

January 23, 2021 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

When you are driven by your mission decision making and action planning can become clearer.

As I have updated my mission statement over the last several weeks, I have recommitted to focusing on those things that are important to me. And I plan to take a page out of Benjamin Franklin’s book as I go through 2021 with integrity in mind. I will work on being mission focused each month with a particular attention to one concept.

I am excited to share my mission with you. [Read more…] about Mission Driven

Mission Statement Tips

January 16, 2021 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Last week I shared that I was planning to review my mission statement and suggested that you join me in that journey.

What did you learn?

I learned:

  • I play many roles and that I have found it challenging to blend them for balance and/or focus.
  • I continue to like using several concept statements versus a paragraph for my statement.
  • I have not looked at my mission statement since last January and, therefore, I need to add a task to do that at least monthly if not weekly when I do my planning.
  • I would have been able to make quicker/calmer decisions over the last several months if I would have reviewed my mission statement first.
  • That many of the statements need to be adjusted slightly based on the current environment/circumstance.

So, the plan is to spend some more time with updating my mission statement.

Here are some tips that can help if you too will be updating your mission statement. [Read more…] about Mission Statement Tips

Grounded by Mission

May 23, 2020 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Why would I even think about talking about a personal mission statement during chaotic times? Why not?

Having a personal mission statement, as I have talked about in the past, is a powerful thing because it sets the foundation for all your actions and keeps you on the right path when it comes to life choices.

Having a clear vision, core purpose and values, tells you what is important to you. And, especially during times of chaos, it can help ground you and assist you in aligning your actions to those things. Your mission statement should pull those pieces together for you so that you can stay on course even in challenging times.

So, if you haven’t already written a personal mission statement, my hope is that you will pick up pen and paper and do so today. If you have already done so, then pull it out and review it to see if any changes are warranted. And then start to focus on the things that truly matter to you.

Abundantly Clear

May 9, 2020 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

These are unprecedented times. Reflecting on my choice of the word abundant for 2020 as well as the task of sheltering in place for the last several weeks have made some things abundantly clear to me.

What has become clear for me is that life is more about creating memories and interacting with loved ones than things. And that abundance takes on a whole new meaning when there is a pandemic happening.

What is most abundantly clear to me now, is that having the opportunity to pause, helps one reflect on what is important to you. It helps sharpen the saw on mission and vision.

And that gratitude must be a pillar of our focus as well as self-care. That the busyness in life is something we allow and tolerate. And if we just slow down a little bit, we can have more riches than we can count.

In an abundant appreciation for you, my reader.  Stay well.
