October 31, 2015 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Would you like to stress less this holiday season? Then start your holiday countdown tomorrow, November 1. Most people don’t even think about the holidays until Thanksgiving or after, but if you want less stress this year, even if you aren’t in the holiday spirit yet, start now.

By breaking tasks into weekly segments you can conquer all the ‘to dos’ for the holiday with ease. It will give you a jump start to a successful holiday.

And if I haven’t convinced you yet, having an eight-week plan will allow you to create a budget, take advantage of seasonal specials, make conscious choices about your commitments, have time to create homemade gifts and provides time to discuss gift giving with others to avoid potential drama or hard feelings.

Guarantee yourself a stress-free holiday this year by implementing my eight-week holiday survival plan. So start tomorrow. And if you would like to receive a free copy of my Holiday Checklist, please contact me.

Clutter Busting: You can’t drive a parked car

October 24, 2015 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Inertia. In physics, inertia means that an object tends to stay exactly where it is unless another object makes it move. Once it’s in motion, it tends to stay in motion until something intervenes to stop it. It still requires a little work to keep it moving, but only a fraction of what it took to set it in motion. If that work doesn’t take place, the object gradually slows down and ends up where it started.

In relationships, inertia means that nothing changes unless someone starts the process. Once that action is taken and there is some movement in the relationship, it takes a lot less action to keep it going. But if no action takes place, the relationship reverts back to where it started.

We understand that it takes a lot of energy to begin working on unhealthy relationships. But do we want to keep it moving? That’s a valid question, because we don’t have any guarantees about where it will go once it is in motion.

If you have a difficult relationship you can make the effort and risk to change your relationship. And don’t forget to also look at your own contribution to the relationship. The situation will only change if you release the parking break. So don’t get stuck whether it is in a relationship or in a situation…only you can set things (change) in motion. Release the break to move forward.

Clutter Busting: Don’t Sweat the Wrong Stuff

October 17, 2015 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Do you get upset about everything that happens to or around you? Do you see the negative in everything? Do you try to fix everyone’s behavior or take responsibility for it? If you do, no wonder you are surrounded by drama.

We may not always have the solution to fix it nor should we always try to fix others. It isn’t our responsibility. If we are trying to fix others we may have chosen the wrong stuff. You are only responsible for your own choice. When you focus on your own responsibilities, the more you will be in charge of your emotions. Don’t give away control of your emotions over to others and their drama. And don’t be dependent on what others think of you.

When you make your own choice it’s like the announcement on the airplane to put the oxygen mask on yourself first.

Sometimes the small stuff is important. Yet you should be more interested in your own stuff first.

Clutter Busting: Mental House Cleaning

October 10, 2015 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Negative thoughts seem to follow the path of least resistance. When our minds go into neutral, they automatically tend to flow toward our normal thinking patterns, whether negative or positive. If we try to stop thinking about something, it creates a space and our minds go right back to what we were just thinking about. It seems like there is no escape.

But you can choose to do some mental house cleaning. And your brain is also the solution. You can’t simply try to stop thinking about negative people or situations…you have to replace those thoughts. You have to consciously choose other things to fill your mind with. At first the negative thoughts will try to creep back in because they have been there for so long. But when that happens you can turn that into a trigger to again fill your mind with truth.

Yet trying to think of new response when you are in the middle of an emotion is like putting the cart before the horse. You have to begin by thinking through the process before the emotion hits you.

Here are some tips for changing your thinking: [Read more…] about Clutter Busting: Mental House Cleaning

Clutter Busting: It’s Your Choice

October 3, 2015 by clutterbusting Leave a Comment

Choice/chois/ (noun)

  1. An act or instance of choosing; selection:
  2. The right, power, or opportunity to choose; option:
  3. The person or thing chosen or eligible to be chosen:
  4. An alternative
  5. An abundance or variety from which to choose:
  6. Something that is preferred or preferable to others; the best part of something:
  7. A carefully selected supply

Whether you are clearing clutter from your mind, body or space it’s about the choices you make on daily basis. You may think that there are outside forces that prevent you from being positive, achieving a healthy weight or decluttering your stuff. But clutter busting is mostly an inside job.

I personally have been on a journey of fitness over that last several months. And someone just asked me how I was able to achieve some significant changes in my body shape. After thinking about it the answer is simple…choice.

Choice is about understanding that you have an option or alternative and it’s about your priorities.

So whether it’s making changes in body, mind or spirit you can conquer chaos and create harmony…just make the choice.
